Can I fly a drone here?

Flying weather, daylight and drone zones for the selected position and time. The colour only reflects the weather. Whether you may fly depends on the airspace and the rules.

    Why this colour?

Yellow and red factors are shown here, with their value, limit and how far they are from the next colour, for now. Everything else is under “Show all”.

Data from MET Norway, licence CC BY 4.0. All times are Norwegian time.

    About the assessment and thresholds

Weather data comes from MET Norway (Locationforecast 2.0, complete), including real wind gusts, fog and low cloud. Further ahead, MET does not provide gusts or fog, so those factors are shown in grey (“no data”). Grey does not count as yellow, but it never gives green either. Kp (NOAA SWPC) and data age are shown for information only and do not affect the colour. Sunrise, sunset and civil twilight are calculated in your browser using NOAA’s solar formula. The green, yellow and red thresholds are our own cautious estimates for small drones, not official limits. Green requires every weather factor to be green, and missing data never gives green.

Drone zones (airports, protected areas and other zones) are not part of the flying weather. They are shown separately and can never give green.

The manufacturer’s limits for your drone (wind, temperature) always take priority over these estimates. Changes are saved only in this browser.

    About probability

All percentages and ranges here come directly from MET (Locationforecast 2.0, complete). We never make up our own percentages.

Chance of precipitation and thunder are MET’s own probabilities for the period shown next to them (next hour or next 6 hours). Precipitation between is MET’s minimum and maximum for the same period.

Wind and temperature “probably between” is MET’s 10th and 90th percentile. This means 8 out of 10 outcomes in MET’s model fall between the two numbers. The wider the gap, the less certain the forecast.

Overall assessment (Fairly certain, Moderately certain, Uncertain) is our own assessment, not a percentage. Fairly certain: up to 6 hours ahead and a spread in the wind forecast of 2 m/s or less. Uncertain: more than 48 hours ahead, 6‑hour blocks, no spread data or a spread above 4 m/s. Otherwise moderately certain. These limits are our own cautious estimates.

Dashed lines are our own cautious thresholds. When gusts are missing (further ahead), no gust line is shown.

The assessment is guidance only and is based on our own cautious thresholds. It does not tell you whether flying is allowed. Always check official sources.
